Who it's for

The AI video editor for Shorts you talk to

A Short is a talking video that has to land in under three minutes, upright, with nothing hidden behind YouTube's title and buttons. Upload the takes, say what you want, and Krafto makes it: retakes and pauses out, captions on, 9:16.

What a Shorts talking video needs

A Short is judged in the first two seconds and watched in a loop, so the opening line and the last line matter most: trim right up to the first word, and end on the line you want remembered. Shorts over a minute with a copyright claim on them are blocked worldwide, so music needs care.

YouTube shows the title, your channel and a subscribe button over the bottom of a Short, buttons down the right, and search and menu over the top. Shorts also live beside your long videos, so a talking Short is often the same take as a 16:9 video, reframed.

From YouTube's own pages, read on 02/10/2026; the linked tool pages list every source. Krafto's 9:16 export already fits them.

What Krafto does, and what is still yours

The honest split. Krafto does the part most people put off; it doesn't film for you or decide what the video is about.

What it costs, and who it's not for

Krafto is $25 a month, with unlimited exports and no free plan or trial. That's about the price of one short video from a freelance editor, and less than a $19.99 editor plan plus the evenings you'd spend in it. If you post once a month, it's not worth it; if you film every week and the editing is why videos never go out, it is.

It isn't for everything. If you enjoy editing and want templates, effects and trending sounds, CapCut is a better fit. If your work is colour grading, multi-camera shoots or long documentary cuts, you want a professional timeline. If you have one long recording and want many clips from it, OpusClip is built for exactly that. Krafto is for the video where you talk to the camera and want it finished.

If you'd rather edit it yourself

You can. CapCut and InShot edit Shorts on a phone; Clipchamp and iMovie are free on a computer. The free tools on this site give you the size, the length and the safe zone for Shorts, and the guides walk through the cut. Start with the Shorts editing guide. Krafto is for the week you'd rather not.

1080 × 1920 pixels, 9:16. Krafto exports at that when you ask for 9:16; the size page checks any file against it.

3 minutes. Shorts over 1 minute with a copyright claim on them are blocked worldwide.

Yes. It keeps text clear of the top 15% and the bottom 35% of the frame, where Shorts draws its own text and buttons.

Yes. Ask for 9:16 and Krafto reframes the video with you centred and lays the captions out again. Filming upright is still better, because a wide video cropped to 9:16 loses most of the picture.

YouTube treats an upright video of three minutes or less as a Short. Over that, it's a regular video. Krafto's 9:16 export at 1080 × 1920 is a Short as long as the cut stays under three minutes; the length page checks a file.
