Is OpusClip free?

Yes. OpusClip's free plan gives you 60 processing minutes a month: one credit is one minute of the video you upload. It finds clips, adds captions and lays them out for vertical.

The catch is that free clips carry a watermark and are deleted after three days, so the free plan is for trying it, not for posting from.

How far the minutes go

OpusClip charges by the length of the video you give it, not by the clips you get back. One credit is one minute of source video, so a 45-minute podcast uses 45 of Starter's 150 minutes: about three episodes a month.

Starter is monthly only; Pro is the only plan with a yearly option. If you'd pay for Starter all year, compare the yearly Pro price on OpusClip's page before you choose, because Pro also adds b-roll and every output shape.

OpusClip next to Krafto

The same questions for both, including the ones Krafto doesn't win: there's no free plan, it only runs in a browser, and it starts above OpusClip's cheapest plan.

Which should you pay for?

Pay for OpusClip if you have long recordings, such as podcasts or streams, and want many short clips out of them quickly. It repurposes one long video; it doesn't assemble an edit from several clips you filmed, and free clips are watermarked and gone in three days.

Pay for Krafto if you film yourself talking and the editing is what you want gone: it makes the first cut from your clips, with the pauses and retakes out and the captions on. No free plan or trial, no phone app, and no template library: you film, Krafto cuts, and you check the result in a browser.

Where Krafto fits

Krafto works differently from every editor on this page: you upload your clips and say what you want, and it cuts the retakes and pauses, adds captions and hands you a first cut. You change things by asking, and the timeline is still there if you want it. It costs $25 a month. There's no free plan, so it only makes sense if editing is the part you want off your plate.
